Backcast supports worthwhile charitable and community awareness endeavors that are meaningful to it, its borrowers and its investors. In that spirit Backcast is establishing a mentoring and rotational hiring and training program for its country’s military veterans with a focus on veterans coming from historically disadvantaged communities. Backcast will also be donating a portion of our profits to worthy charities. Its first charitable recipient will be The Headstrong Project (www.getheadstrong.org), a charity co-founded by David Petrucco, which in partnership with Weill Cornell Medical College provides cost-, stigma- and bureaucracy-free treatment for our veterans suffering from severe PTSD and at risk of suicide. Headstrong provides services in cities across the United States.
Backcast will also be supporting Backcast Partner Mark Gudis‘ family initiative to continue providing donated AED (“automated external defibrillator”) machines to communities in need. Readily accessible AED’s can save the lives of individuals suffering from sudden cardiac arrest, a condition which is often fatal and effects 400,000 people per year in our country. The goal of this endeavor is not only continuing to expand the geographical reach of this program to other communities, but also to develop a model program for education and training in the schools, which can be expanded and replicated across the entire nation.
Backcast, since 2018, has been a proud sponsor of the Women’s Association of Venture and Equity (WAVE), a non-profit organization committed to the development and advancement of women in private equity and venture capital. Backcast has sponsored multiple events designed to create professional networking opportunities for its members and has further supported WAVE by offering professional opportunities to its members.
Backcast is proud to support Shari Jones’s inaugural free field hockey camp for youth in North Philadelphia, and we look forward to many years of such support.
